rumbling

it didn't take a few days before i had to remind myself that i had been gone at all......
funny about this place, it is really timeless. each day mixing with the next and time behind you just a stream of idyllic dreams. people say you can leave here for years and come back and it's like nothing has changed. same people doing the same things, maybe more development but there is no stopping that runaway snowball.
i experienced the same thing when i was in colorado this year. i ran into so many people that were like 'oh hey shap, haven't seen you in a while. what have you been up to?' i would have to explain that i had been living on maui for 3 years! 'oooooh, that's why i haven't seen you!' ....funny stuff.
well, per my agreement with maui eco tours, as soon as i had my feet (of my paddle as the case is..) under me both my co-workers left the island for a break. one went to fiji and tonga and is reportedly shacked up with some samoan woman in a grass hut, and the other to the east coast to visit family. people ask where you go on vacation from hawaii? there you go..or vegas, vegas is where the locals go...the exact opposite of here.
so i have been working everyday. lots of work, coupled with visitors both expected and unexpected, i have been busy and when i am not busy i am tired. i have had a couple of great dolphin experiences, almost got bit by a white tip reef shark; but my tips suggest that i have been giving some of the best tours of my career. we had a boat go down in molokini crater, some great late season south swells, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake(!), and a tropical storm that has the island flooded right now!
i guess you could say 'never a dull moment', that could sum it up but it is more than that. it is the amazing tapestry of the everyday, life's rich pageant of events that seeds our imagination and fuels our souls to explore and see what this world has to offer.
much love,
shap

Hey Shap! Remember that time your friend Garth kicked out a plate glass window after trashing my car with tasty treats we stole from the 7-11?
I hope your life is as awesome as you say it is. Send me an email to cliffbennet@gmail.com -- would love to catch up.
P.S. I like the photos of the sexy women the best.
